Re: NHS Core Services under threat
You will, I am sure, be aware of the Save the DGH and Hands off the Conquest campaigns, of which I am an active supporter. The Eastbourne MP, Nigel Waterson and all other political parties are also represented on the campaign committees, as are our Civic and Council Leaders.
Recently an important letter was printed in the Eastbourne Herald from the Headteacher and Governors of Eastbourne Technology College. They are very concerned for the health, safety and well being of their pupils should any of them need urgent hospitalisation following the proposed restructuring of services to a single site. Schools are required to be risk aware at all times and therefore need emergency services, including a Paediatric unit, to be accessible in order to effectively manage that risk.
We are campaigning to retain LOCAL core services. Without them every school, nursery, residential care home, business, hotel, language school, etc is worried about the effect this will have on their pupils, residents and customers who will be put at greater risk if services are located more than 20 miles away. We are concerned too for the jobs of healthcare professionals who want to continue providing quality and accessible services for local people.
I urge you to support our campaign, which now needs to rapidly gather greater momentum as the decision process begins to reach a conclusion. Your school will then be added to the list of schools to include the number of people your organisation represents. Thank you.
